INTERNATIONAL MUSEUM DAY 2020 -The Archaeological Museum of Tegea sets out on its journey to the Mediterranean…

            The Ephorate of Antiquities of Arcadia, in collaboration with the Social and Cultural Affairs Welfare Foundation (KIKPE, www.kikpe.gr), participate to the International Museum Day 2020 with a video, subtitled in English, about the forthcoming periodical exhibition “Memory and impression: An itinerary through the Peloponnese in the company of ancient coins”. The exhibition that is to take place in the Archaeological Museum of Tegea, is a reflection on memory and collective recollection, on myth and oral narration.
            Guide to this charming journey of initiation to the social memory of the past are fifty six (56) ancient silver and copper coins as well as a 19^th century medal, that meet and occasionally converse with the Museum exhibits. Most of the coins that will be presented for the first time to the Greek and international audience, belong to the KIKPE Numismatic Collection. A parallel photographic exhibition, organized in collaboration with the Michail N. Stassinopoulos – Viohalco Public-Benefit Foundation, will welcome the visitors at the second venue of this composite project titled “Memory and impression” (Building B of the Michail N. Stassinopoulos – Viohalco Public-Benefit Foundation at Stadio Tegeas, (www.msvf.gr).
This journey, combining memories, imagination and reality, begins at Tegea, passes through various places around the Mediterranean, such as the Peloponnese, Asia Minor and Italy, and ends in Arcadia, not as the existent location but as an imaginary landscape, as the ideal destination of the mind and the soul.
